It’s time to do some figuring and serious thinking about what’s important to your health, life, future, and your children. Can you cut back on any of these things and redirect this money to healthier choices? Do your current choices support your number one priority for you and your family – your health?
*Water: Do you buy bottled water? Not only is this bad for the environment, but most brands are barely better than tap water. Do you use tap water to make juice, boil pasta, make soup, coffee or tea? Invest in a high-quality water purifying system to ensure pure, safe water for all your needs and to save money (http://bit.ly/11StYon).
*Other drinks: How much do you spend each week on
-Ready-made juices, frozen juices, juice boxes, powdered drink mixes
-Coffee, tea, milk, milk substitutes
-Soda pop, carbonated/flavored water
-Sport or energy drinks.
-Beer, wine, alcohol, coolers.
How much money would you save if the entire family drank the 6 – 8 glasses of WATER that their body needs every day instead of the above bad choices? Purchase safe reusable water bottles.
Homework assignment: On your next grocery trip, do separate bills for:
1. All your drink products (see above list)
2. All prepackaged, instant, ready-to-serve, frozen, canned items, sliced meats
3. All junk foods: ice cream, chips, cookies. You know what they are.
4. All living, life-giving foods: fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh nuts and seeds, whole grains, etc.
Where are you spending your money? Can you redirect some to healthier choices?
*Cleaning products that are full of detrimental chemicals
*Bath and shower products
*Cosmetics, nail polish, lotions, hair products
*Pizza, burgers, take-out food, restaurants, morning stops at the coffee shop
*Headache and pain medications
*Cold, sinus, allergy medications and other over-the-counter medications
*Laxatives, hemorrhoid medications
*Ointments, creams, powders
*Vitamin products that are of questionable or poor quality and little use to you
Do these products correct or improve your condition by addressing the root cause, or do they just act as a temporary fix for your symptoms? This is like removing the fuse of the warning light on your car dashboard. Symptoms are the body’s warning lights. Be thankful for them. They give you a chance to address and correct the problem before something more serious develops. How much would a return to optimal health save you on these items and how much more would you enjoy life?
